  3.     ------------

  5.     You can use this function to search for and view both alarm and
  6.     normal logged messages from Events. The Query Event Messages window
  7.     will appear, as shown below.

  10.     Fields
  11.  
  12.     This window contains the following fields:
  13.  
  14.     Query Hosts
  15.  
  16.     Use these toggles to specify which hosts to query for reports. The
  17.     options are:
  18.  
  19.     + Hosts In Exception Pool (the default)
  20.     + Hosts In Current Pool
  21.     + Specific Host(s)
  22.  
  23.     If you choose the Specific Host(s) option, use the text field to the
  24.     right of that option to specify which host(s) to check for messages.
  25.     Leave a blank space between host names for multiple entries. You can
  26.     also click on the arrow button to the right to pop up a pick list of
  27.     all hosts within the current pool and make your selection(s) from
  28.     there.

  30.     Message Type
  31.  
  32.     Use these toggles to specify which type of messages to search for in
  33.     the reports. The options are:
  34.  
  35.     + Event Messages Only
  36.     + Log Messages Only
  37.     + Both Messages (the default)
  38.  
  39.     Event Messages are Events alarm messages generated by a test
  40.     crossing a user-defined threshold. Log Messages are those Events
  41.     informational messages generated when a test runs without generating
  42.     an event and that (successful) result is logged.

  44.     Message Severity Level
  45.  
  46.     You can use these toggles to choose what severity level of the
  47.     messages to use in the search. The options are:
  48.  
  49.     + Severe Message
  50.     + Info Message
  51.     + Error Message
  52.     + Okay Message
  53.     + Warning Message
  54.  
  55.     You can select more than one severity level to use in the search;
  56.     you must select at least one severity level. The default is all
  57.     levels of message severity will be queried during the search.

  59.     Test Name Filter
  60.  
  61.     You can use this field to limit the search to specific test names.
  62.     You may type in the entire test name or just the first few letters
  63.     of the test name. All tests whose name contains part or all of the
  64.     specified string will be queried. Leave a blank space between test
  65.     names for multiple entries. You can also click on the arrow button
  66.     to the right to pop up a pick list of all pre-defined standard
  67.     Events tests and make your selection(s) from there.

  69.     You can also use the standard UNIX wild cards `*', `[]', and `?' in
  70.     this field (e.g., /home/*).

  72.     Number of Messages per Host
  73.  
  74.     Events logs can become large very quickly and therefore take more
  75.     time to search. You can use this field to help speed up the search
  76.     time and only view the most recent X messages per host. You can also
  77.     use the counter buttons to the right to increment or decrement the
  78.     number displayed. The most recent message is always displayed first.

  82.     You can use these two fields to limit the search to messages logged
  83.     between the specified times. See "TIME FORMATS" on page C-1 for
  84.     details on specifying this time-date value.

  90.     Execute Query
  91.  
  92.     Once you've made your selections, click on this button to begin the
  93.     search process. When the query is completed, the results will be
  94.     displayed in the event viewer window.
